Media transfer comparison

Signiant Media Shuttle vs MASV

Both are serious tools for moving media, and they are built on opposite pricing models. Media Shuttle is an annual contract that runs on your own storage. MASV bills for every gigabyte that gets downloaded. This page explains which one fits which kind of shop, and when neither is the right answer.

Checked against Signiant’s and MASV’s published pricing pages on 2 October 2026. If something has changed, email support@send-atlas.com and we’ll fix it.

Before the comparison

Getting the names straight

Signiant is the company. Media Shuttle is the product most people mean, the browser-based portal for sending files to people. Signiant’s other products, Jet and Flight Deck, handle automated, system-to-system transfer and are a different conversation.

MASV used to trade as Massive, and its help centre still lives at help.massive.io. That’s why searches for “massiv.io” and “Signiant vs massiv.io” are really about MASV.

At a glance

How the three compare

Send Atlas is included because it is what we make. It also sits at a very different price point, which is useful context if you are a small team weighing either of the other two.

Real numbers

What each one costs at two common volumes

Per-download billing and annual contracts behave very differently as your volume changes, so it helps to price two realistic setups.

A post house: 2 TB a month, two recipients per package

That is 4 TB of deliveries. On MASV pay as you go, that comes to about $996 a month after the free 15 GB. The 5 TB subscription at $973 a month covers it, or about $11,676 a year. Media Shuttle Professional starts at $13,000 a year plus whatever your own storage costs. Add a third recipient and MASV’s bill grows by half, while Signiant’s stays the same. At this scale both tools make sense, and the choice comes down to storage, workflow and certifications.

A freelance editor: 300 GB a month, two recipients per package

That is 600 GB of deliveries. MASV pay as you go comes to $146.25 a month. Signiant does not publish a Small Business price, and its first published tier works out to more than $1,000 a month. Send Atlas Pro is $14.99 a month, however many times a client downloads the file. At this volume, an enterprise contract or a per-GB meter is mostly paying for capability you will not use.

These are estimates from published list prices. MASV figures use the $0.25/GB pay-as-you-go rate and the published subscription tiers. Signiant’s figures are the “starting at” prices on its pricing page, and actual quotes vary. Run your own volume through the MASV cost calculator.

Choosing

Which one fits your shop

Pick Media Shuttle if

You already run a SAN or NAS, or keep media in your own cloud buckets, and want people to send straight into it. You need send, share and submit portals for many outside vendors. IT wants SSO, metadata forms and API automation. Or you move enough that one annual number is easier to budget than a meter.

Pick MASV if

You want to start today with a card and no infrastructure. Your volume swings month to month, so paying only for what you use wins. A client contract requires the certifications MASV lists. Or your recipients are spread around the world and minutes count.

Pick neither if

You are an editor, colorist, DIT, motion designer or small studio sending a few hundred gigabytes a month to a handful of people. A $13,000 contract is overkill, and per-download billing charges you again every time a producer re-downloads a cut. That is the gap Send Atlas is built for.

Where Send Atlas is the wrong call

If a studio contract requires TPN, SOC 2 or ISO 27001, Send Atlas does not hold those certifications today. If you need accelerated transfer across continents on tight deadlines, Signiant and MASV have invested in infrastructure we have not. We would rather tell you now than after you sign up.

Questions

Signiant vs MASV FAQ

Is Media Shuttle the same thing as Signiant?

Not quite. Signiant is the company. Media Shuttle is its product for people sending files to people through a browser portal. Signiant also sells Jet for automated system-to-system transfers and Flight Deck. When people compare “Signiant vs MASV”, they almost always mean Media Shuttle vs MASV.

What is massiv.io?

It is almost certainly a misspelling of MASV, which used to trade as Massive and still runs its help centre at help.massive.io. If you searched for a massiv.io alternative, you are looking for alternatives to MASV.

How much does Signiant Media Shuttle cost?

Signiant’s pricing page lists three annual tiers. Small Business is quoted on request. Professional starts at $13,000 a year and Enterprise starts at $25,000 a year. Storage is separate, because Media Shuttle runs on storage you supply.

How much does MASV cost?

MASV includes 15 GB of free transfer each month, then charges $0.25 per GB on pay as you go. Annual subscriptions run from $58 a month for 250 GB to $973 a month for 5 TB, and pre-buy credits start at $1,229 for 5 TB. Usage is counted each time a file is downloaded. Our MASV pricing breakdown has a calculator.

Is Signiant better than MASV?

Neither is better across the board. Media Shuttle suits facilities that already own storage, want branded send, share and submit portals, and prefer one predictable annual contract. MASV suits teams that want to start today with a card, have uneven volume, or need the certifications MASV publishes. If you are a small team sending a few hundred gigabytes a month, both are usually more than you need.

Does either one charge per user?

MASV states it has no per-seat fees. Signiant’s tiers are priced as annual packages rather than per seat on its pricing page. Send Atlas is priced per account at a flat monthly rate.

What changes if I switch from MASV to Signiant?

The biggest change is storage. MASV hosts your files in its cloud, while Media Shuttle connects to storage you provide, on premises or in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. You also move from usage billing to an annual contract, which makes costs predictable but commits you up front. Recipients still work through a web browser either way.
