Google Drive Alternative
A Google Drive alternative for delivering files to clients.
Drive is great for storing and collaborating. For handing a large file to a client, Send Atlas gives you expiring links, passwords and delivery receipts, and it doesn’t use your Drive storage.
Sharing from storage vs sending a transfer
Google Drive shares files that live in your Google storage, which on a free account is 15 GB shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos. Individual files can be up to 5 TB, but each user can upload 750 GB per 24 hours. Sharing is permission-based: you invite people or turn on link sharing, and there’s no password option for links. Send Atlas sends a transfer instead: the files don’t use your storage quota, links can expire and be password-protected, and on Pro you get an email when the client downloads.

Why use Send Atlas for client delivery
Doesn’t eat your storage
A free Google account has 15 GB shared with Gmail and Photos. Sending a 10 GB file through Send Atlas uses none of it.
Links that clean up after themselves
Set a link to expire and cap the number of downloads, so delivered files don’t sit in a shared folder forever.
Passwords on links
Protect a transfer with a password, something Drive’s link sharing doesn’t offer.
Proof it arrived Pro
Get an email the moment your client downloads, so “I never got the file” stops being your problem.
Previews before download Pro
Pick stills for clients to preview in the browser before they pull the whole package down.
Your brand on the download page Pro
Add your logo, colors, and background so clients see your studio, not ours.
When Google Drive is still the right call
If you collaborate on documents, need files to live somewhere permanently, or your clients already work in Google Workspace, Drive is the natural choice, and 2 TB of Google One storage costs less than Send Atlas Pro. Send Atlas is for delivery: sending large files to people outside your organization with a password, an expiry date, a download limit, and a receipt when they download.
Google Drive alternative FAQ
What is Google Drive’s upload limit?
Google’s documentation lists a maximum file size of 5 TB and an upload limit of 750 GB per user in any 24-hour period. Send Atlas Pro sends up to 1 TB per transfer.
Can I password-protect a Google Drive link?
No. Drive controls access through sharing permissions rather than link passwords. Send Atlas lets you add a password to any transfer with a free account.
Does sending with Send Atlas use my Google storage?
No. Send Atlas transfers are stored on Send Atlas, not in your Google account, so they don’t count against your Drive, Gmail or Photos quota.
Do recipients need a Google account?
Not if you share with “anyone with the link”, but they do for restricted sharing. Send Atlas recipients never need an account.
