MASV pricing in 2026: what it actually costs

The per-GB rate, the team and pre-buy plans, how usage is counted, and a calculator to work out your real monthly bill. Every figure on this page is cited to MASV's own documentation, and anything that isn't from MASV is labelled.

Every figure in this table is published by MASV on their own pricing page. MASV also lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022, TPN verified, HIPAA and GDPR compliance badges, and is an AWS Marketplace partner, so purchases can be billed through an AWS account.

The mechanic that decides your bill

Usage is counted per download, not per upload

This is the single most important thing to understand before your first large send, and it is not hidden. MASV documents it plainly: transfers pass through the MASV Cloud, files are forwarded to the data centre nearest the recipient, and MASV charges every time a file leaves that cloud. That covers downloads from MASV, deliveries to cloud or storage integrations, and storage past the free days included with your plan. MASV also states that, aside from those, it does not charge for extra seats or usage.

MASV's own worked example: a 250 GB package sent to three recipients and one cloud service shows approximately 1 TB of usage once the downloads complete, because it counts as 250 GB multiplied by four downloads.

Paraphrased from How MASV charges for services, MASV Help Centre.

At the published $0.25/GB, that example works out to $246.25 for a single 250 GB package, once the 15 GB monthly allowance is deducted. The upload was one package. The bill was for four deliveries.

MASV's answer to this is a download limit. Its documentation describes capping download attempts per package, and states that because each download counts toward your usage, the limit helps control costs. If the cap is hit, the recipient sees a "Download Limit Reached" message and the sender is notified by email.

That is worth sitting with. On most platforms a download limit is a security control. On a per-download billing model it doubles as a spend control, which means the lever for managing your bill is restricting how many times your client can fetch the file you sent them.

Run your numbers

MASV cost calculator

The second field is the one people underestimate. Count every destination a package reaches: each human recipient who downloads it, and each cloud or storage integration it is delivered to.

Billable transfer
--
Uploaded volume multiplied by deliveries, minus the 15 GB monthly allowance.
MASV, pay as you go
--
Transfer at MASV's published $0.25/GB.
Send Atlas, flat
--
One monthly price for transfers up to 1 TB, regardless of how many times a package is downloaded.

An estimate, not a quote. It uses MASV's published pay-as-you-go rate and free allowance, and MASV's published extended storage rate of $0.07/GB/month. Subscription and pre-buy plans lower the effective rate for steady volume, and enterprise terms are negotiated separately. Check masv.io/pricing before making a decision.

Volume plans

Subscription and pre-buy tiers

MASV publishes both of these in full. Subscriptions are billed monthly on a 12-month commitment, with the allotment refreshing each month and overages charged at a discounted rate. Pre-buy is a single payment, with credits valid for 180 days.

Subscription tierPer monthEffective rateSaving vs pay as you go
250 GB$58$0.23 / GB8%
500 GB$110$0.22 / GB12%
1 TB$215$0.21 / GB16%
2 TB$410$0.20 / GB20%
5 TB$973$0.19 / GB24%
Pre-buy tierOne-timeEffective rateSaving vs pay as you go
5 TB$1,229$0.24 / GB4%
10 TB$2,355$0.23 / GB8%
25 TB$5,632$0.22 / GB12%

A detail worth knowing when you compare tiers: MASV explains that a plan sold as 1 TB actually delivers 1 TiB, which works out to roughly 1,099 GB, because a metric gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 bytes while a binary gibibyte is 1,073,741,824. You get slightly more than the round number suggests. The pay-as-you-go figures further down use plain metric GB to avoid muddling the two.

Worked examples

Common volumes on pay as you go

Assuming one delivery per package and nothing stored past the free 5 days. Add a second recipient and every MASV figure roughly doubles. Volumes are shown in plain metric GB. At these levels a subscription tier would usually be cheaper than pay as you go, so compare against the table above too.

Being fair about it

When MASV is the right call

MASV is a well-built product with a real engineering investment behind it, and there are situations where it is clearly the better choice.

Speed on very large media

MASV routes transfers through its own global cloud infrastructure and forwards files from the data centre nearest the recipient. If minutes matter on a deadline, that architecture is doing real work.

Certification requirements

MASV lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022, TPN verified, HIPAA and GDPR compliance. If a client contract requires any of those, that decides it for you and price is a secondary question. Send Atlas does not hold these certifications today.

Genuinely irregular volume

If you send 40 GB one month and nothing the next, paying only for what you use can beat any flat subscription. Pay as you go exists for a reason.

Where flat pricing wins

Steady mid-range volume, or packages that several people download. That is where per-download metering compounds and a fixed monthly price becomes easier to budget against.

Questions

MASV pricing FAQ

How much does MASV cost per GB?

MASV’s pay-as-you-go rate is $0.25 per GB, charged once the free 15 GB monthly allowance is used. Annual subscriptions lower the effective rate from $0.23/GB at 250 GB a month to $0.19/GB at 5 TB a month, and pre-buy credits run from $0.24/GB to $0.22/GB.

Does MASV charge per upload or per download?

Per download. MASV charges each time a file leaves its cloud, which includes downloads and deliveries to cloud or storage integrations. In MASV’s own example, a 250 GB package sent to three recipients and one cloud service shows about 1 TB of usage.

What does MASV cost for teams?

MASV doesn’t charge per seat, so a team pays for the data it moves rather than for each person. Teams with steady volume usually move to an annual subscription, from $58 a month for 250 GB to $973 a month for 5 TB, or buy pre-paid credits from $1,229 for 5 TB. Above 25 TB, MASV quotes enterprise pricing.

Does MASV have a free plan or free trial?

MASV’s Starter plan includes 15 GB of free transfer every month and 5 days of free storage per file. You need to add a credit card to sign up, and MASV places a temporary $10 pre-authorization hold that is released automatically. Usage beyond 15 GB is billed at $0.25 per GB.

Does MASV charge for storage?

Every upload includes 5 days of free storage. After that, MASV charges $0.07 per GB per month to keep files on the platform.

How can I control what MASV costs?

MASV’s documentation describes download limits that cap how many times a package can be downloaded. Because each download counts toward usage, MASV presents the limit as a cost control. When the limit is reached, the recipient sees a Download Limit Reached message and the sender gets an email.

When is MASV worth the price?

When transfer speed on very large media is the priority, when a client contract requires the certifications MASV lists, or when volume is irregular enough that paying only for what you use beats a flat subscription. Flat monthly pricing tends to win when volume is steady or several people download each package.
